You hit 40 and all of the sudden you feel like a different person.

Maybe you are putting on weight, especially belly fat, not sleeping well, lacking energy, unable to focus, and just not feeling like your normal self. Your confidence and stamina go down the drain! You are feeling sluggish, discouraged, overwhelmed, defeated. Why is this happening? Is this just the way the rest of my life is going to be?

Absolutely not.

But here’s the thing - what you did in your twenties to keep healthy likely isn’t going to work for you now. And that’s the first mistake that so many of us make. Take a look at your health and fitness habits:

  • Are you still eating and exercising the way you did in your 20s and 30s?

  • Are you fueling properly? Recovering well from exercise? Or pushing your body to a breaking point? 

  • Are you only looking at a number on the scale to measure your fitness/health?

It is more difficult to lose weight or maintain a healthy weight as we age. Changing hormones, stress, and just life in general seems to get in the way. But it is absolutely possible! However, you can’t treat your body as if it was 20 years younger and expect to get the results you want.

WHY WOMEN 40+?

 

SheNutrition.ca was created to help women everywhere, especially moms, improve their eating habits and move more to look and feel their best. During the past few years it became clear that my clients (and myself for that matter) were starting to experience some challenges that come with the peri and post menopausal years.  This bootcamp was launched to focus on programming designed to address these very issues. Every woman wants to feel strong and confident. She wants to feel great about how her clothes fit. She wants to feel energized and ready to do anything she wants.

Being over 40 myself, with an active family and my own business, I know how tough it is to keep everything together. But I also realize that a happy, healthy me leads to a better life for myself and my family. I am determined to do everything I can to age as gracefully as possible so that I can enjoy the second part of my life, be there for my family and myself in my best possible version.

I want to help women 40+ everywhere do the same. I want every woman to feel strong, confident. i want them to feel great about how their clothes fit. To see them energized and ready to do anything she wants.

And I want that for you too.

It’s not easy, and yes,  you have to eat better, yes you have to move more. You need to have consistency and patience. And most of all, you need to let go of the all or nothing mentality. 

This bootcamp is designed to get you there. Designed specifically for women over 40, the focus is always on improving body composition: building more lean muscle, maintaining strong bones, improving mobility and improving overall well being.

Women in the menopause transition and beyond should prioritize strength-power training in their exercise routine, as hormonal changes make it harder to maintain muscle mass and strength (and the hormone changes increase belly fat storage).

Martha is an amazing instructor and plans the perfect morning workout. Between her encouragement, the music and variety in the class I find a challenging one hour class goes by very quickly. I wasn’t sure exercising over zoom would be for me but the class sizes are small, fun, and a very good workout that is easily modified depending on fitness level or how I’m feeling that day. Here’s what the bootcamp looks like.

We start with a 5 minute warm up, followed by a strength training and cardio routine and end the session with a thorough stretching and cool down routine. Your can come and go as your schedule allows. There are different workouts 6 days a week.

I started working with Martha (owner of She Nutrition) at the beginning of November. I felt like I knew the basics of a healthy lifestyle but the pressure of work, kids, and everything else was preventing me from making time to take care of myself.
